Celebrating Small Business!

Celebrating Small Business!

Today we’re celebrating Small Business Saturday; a day which encourages customers to spend their money in independent local businesses rather than High Street chains and offering option to Black Friday deals which supports small businesses. At MAiK, we are extremely passionate about creating and selling great products, and always love to see our customers enjoying their items!

If you don’t know much about Small Business Saturday – it started in 2010 as an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the US during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. Following its success, Small Business Saturday came to the UK in 2013 and is encouraging more and more people to step away from online retail and find the joy in shopping small.

There are so many small businesses we love, so we thought we’d share a few that we’ve worked with in the past and whose work we admire.

PR Dispatch

PR Dispatch - Rosie Davies-Smith

When MAiK first launched, we were lucky enough to share a studio with the exceptional PR Dispatch AKA Rosie Davies-Smith. Founded in 2017, PR Dispatch provide product-based businesses with everything they need to pitch their products to UK press. They’ve given numerous brands the confidence and resources they need to perfect their brand and get their name out there – including MAiK!

It has been truly amazing to watch Rosie build her company from just being just her to an amazing team of PR Experts – find out more about the whole team here.

Hello beautiful knitwear! We met Rosie last year in Edinburgh and fell in love with her amazing Scottish Cashmere Company (and her cute pugs!) Rosie’s fashion forward designs are influenced by the rolling hills of beautiful Scotland where she is based, or the landscape of countries she has visited on her travels. Rosie’s work is stocked in the UK and the USA and is regularly featured in top fashion magazines. You can shop her beautiful products here.

At MAiK, we’ve also been lucky enough to share a studio with the wonderful Hannah Taylor – the lady behind the Delicaté Rebellion and online creativity community, The Collective. The Delicaté Rebellion is a beautiful print publication which aims to challenge the mainstream media’s portrayal of women, publishing stories of some of the UK’s top creative women. The Collective launched last year and pairs the women featured in the magazine with Hannah’s readers to provide a community with the added bonuses of online workshops, support, encouragement and friendship! Check out Hannah’s beautiful website here.

We want to celebrate every small business and encourage you to do the same! Let us know some of your favourite independent places to shop! If you’re buying, don’t forget to use the hashtag #SmallBizSatUK
